Jobless rates fall in 35 of 55 W.Va. counties

CHARLESTON (AP) — Unemployment rates fell in 35 of West Virginia’s 55 counties in February.

WorkForce West Virginia said Friday that 15 counties reported higher jobless rates during the month. Five counties saw rates unchanged.

Monongalia County has the lowest rate in the state at 4.9 percent. Clay County’s 17 percent rate is the highest.

West Virginia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 7.3 percent, down one-tenth of a percentage point from January’s rate.
