Witness walk: The South Jefferson Ministerial Association will host a ‘Walk Of Witness’ at 10 a.m. on Good Friday. The walk begins at Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town and concludes at Edge Hill Cemetery. Call 304-725-5513 or visit myasburychurch.org for more information.

Special service: The Jefferson County Association of Black Clergy will sponsor a special Good Friday service starting at 7:30 p.m. at Ebenezer Mt. Calvary Holiness Church in Summit Point. The topic of the service will be “The seven last sayings of Christ.”

Easter extravaganza: Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 11590 Harpers Ferry Road, Purcellville, Va., will be holding a special Easter celebration starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. The day will include egg hunts, games, crafts, food and special performances by Tuesday’s Fine and Nancy’s Hands Puppet Ministry. Donations accepted. St. John’s Easter events: St. John’s Episcopal Church in Harpers Ferry will host a Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m. That will include a foot washing and Holy Eurcharist. The Rev. Georgia DuBose will be the preacher and celebrant. On Good Friday, the congregation will join with St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church where the officiant will be John K. Roberts, the senior warden of St. Bartholomew’s and Rev. DuBose will preach. The annual Easter Sunrise Service in Harpers Ferry will begin at 6:30 a.m. at the Harper Cemetery. Chicago Lyric Opera baritone Warren Fremling will be the hymn leader and DuBose will preach. Cemetery readers will be the Rev. Luther Osment, the Rev. Douglas Fraimm and the Rev. John Unger. The cemetery is at the east end of Fillmore Street, one block south of Washington Street. St. John Lutheran Church, at 950 Washington St., will host a continental breakfast for attendees immediately following the sunrise service. Church services begin at 9 a.m., with a Festival Eucharist at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 898 Washington St. Fremling, Bettye Hayes and Purvis McEachern will be the soloists for that service. Worshipers will be invited to join in the annual Flowering of the Cross as the service begins and bringing spring flowers is welcome.

Camp Hill-Wesley United Methodist Church at 601 Washington St., will offer its Easter service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Osment preaching. The church’s stringed instrument group, the Angel Band, will be the musicians for the service.

On Easter Monday at 6 p.m., Fremling will offer a concert of Easter music to benefit the St. John’s Building Fund and Jefferson County Community Ministries. Bonnie Gano will be the accompanist. Admission is by donation at the door, at St. John’s Episcopal Church. For more information, call 304-535-2009.

St. John Easter schedule: St. John Lutheran Church in Harpers Ferry will offer a Maundy Thursday service starting at 6 p.m. Good Friday service will begin at 6 p.m. The Rev. Ray Shriver will preside over both services. The Rev. John Unger will preside over the 10 a.m. Easter service.

Community service: A Good Friday service at Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church will start at noon and end at 3 p.m. Easter Sunrise service at Rumsey Monument Park will begin at 6:30 a.m.

Asbury Holy Week schedule: Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town will celebrate Maundy Thursday with a 7 p.m. service. Easter Sunday will begin with a community Easter sunrise service at Jefferson Memorial Park followed by traditional Easter Services at 8:30 and 11 a.m., with a contemporary Easter service at 9:35 a.m. An Easter egg hunt will be held during Sunday School.
