Scholarship available: Applications are being accepted for the 2013 Woman’s Club of Harpers Ferry Carrie Schilling College Scholarship. The scholarship is for $1,000 and is open to students at Washington or Jefferson high schools who plan a college major in the arts and humanities, environmental studies or public service fields. Book donations needed: The Friends of South Jefferson Public Library is seeking donations of books on gardening, crafts, hobbies and DIY for the April 13 sale. Books may be dropped off at the library in Summit Point.
Deadline approaching for bus trip: The deadline for the Shepherd University Foundation and Scarborough Society bus trip to the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia is April 1. The trip will leave Shepherd at 8 a.m. and will return to Shepherdstown at 7 p.m. on April 18. The trip is open to the public. Nominate a senior citizen: The search is on for West Virginia’s outstanding senior volunteers. The Salute to Senior Service program, sponsored by Home Instead, Inc., honors the contributions of adults 65 and older who give at least 15 hours a month of volunteer service to their favorite causes. Class of 1978 seeks classmates: The Jefferson High School Class of 1978 is looking for former classmates. The 35th reunion is planned for June 29 at the Charles Town Moose Lodge.
