AIKEN, S.C. — Fifth-ranked South Carolina-Aiken handed Shepherd consecutive 3-1, 13-1, and 5-1 losses when the Rams opened their baseball season last weekend in the southland.
The Pacers were 8-1 overall after sweeping the Rams.
Shepherd had six hits, seven hits, and five hits in the consecutive losses.
The Rams received well-pitched innings from first-game starter Paul Hzodovic (six innings, five hits, three earned runs, four strikeouts, one walk) and first-game reliever Ryan Pansch (two innings, one hit, no runs, three strikeouts, and no walks).
The Pacers combed four Rams’ pitchers for 18 hits in the 13-1 win. In the 5-1 loss, Shepherd relief pitchers Brandon Coffey and Bryan DiRosario did creditible jobs in two-inning stints.
In the combined three games, Shepherd had only four extra base hits.
