When visiting Hedgesville outscored Washington by 14 points in the second quarter, that deep imprint made all the difference in world at the end where the Lady Eagles had a 66-58 win over homestanding Washington.
The Lady Eagles did so well with their pressure in the second quarter that they had taken a 30-20 lead by halftime.
Kristen Nunn scored 18 points for the Lady Eagles who overcame the four long-range field goals from Washington’s Alycia Lambert, who finished with 18 points. Alexis Taylor was another Hedgesville scorer with 18 points. Carly Elliott added 11 points to the Hedgesville team total and Hope Gayle tossed in another 10 points.
Morgan Adams had 14 points and Kylie Nelson chipped in another 11 points for the Patriots.
In a make-up game on Saturday, Washington defeated Jefferson, 68-46, by outscoring the Lady Cougars 15-3 in the first quarter. The Patriots cemented their 11th win in 21 games by outgunning Jefferson, 19-11, in the third stanza.
Jefferson was 2-18 with the loss.
Morgan Adams scored 19 points, Jackie Hess added 15 points as did Alycia Lambert as the Patriots went over the .500 mark .
Marissa Jones had 14 points for Jefferson and Alana Baylor chipped in with her 10 points.
