ELKINS — Chad Moore scored six of his game-high 36 points in overtime as Shepherd got back on the winning track with an 86-82 win over homestanding Davis & Elkins.
The WVIAC win left the Rams with a 9-7 conference record and a 12-8 overall mark. The Senators were 6-14 overall and 5-11 in the WVIAC.
Moore was 13-for-22 from the floor and 10-of-13 from the foul line to notch his 36 points. He claimed 12 of Shepherd’s 35 rebounds. Moore played all 45 minutes. Davis & Elkins had 41 rebounds with Igor Premasunac getting 11 and D’Quan Lynch nine.
Brantley Osborne had 23 points for the Rams, including making 7-of-12 three-point attempts. Osborne played 42 minutes.
Shepherd was only called for seven personal fouls and committed only eight turnovers.
The Senators tried only six free throws, making five. Lynch scored 25 points and Premasunac added 19 points. Lynch also totaled 13 assists in an all-around performance.
Shepherd led, 44-42, at the half, but needed Moore’s jumper with 1:26 left in regulation to get to the overtime. The Rams outscored the Senators, 9-5, in overtime.
