’Dogs stop Pats

MARTINSBURG — Even making only 10-of-22 free throws, Martinsburg’s girls team built a 20-point lead after three quarters and then coasted home with a 52-41 win over visiting Washington last Tuesday at the Field House.

The Patriots were only able to score one point in the second quarter and fell behind, 27-14, at the half.

Kiana Bullett scored 17 points and Essence Underwood had 14 points to pace the Martinsburg scoring.

Alycia Lambert was Washington’s top scorer with her 16 points and Kylie Nelson added 10 points to the Patriots’ total.

Washington was 9-9 overall with its fifth loss in the last six games.
