Baseball, softball registration: Registration for spring baseball and softball season continues at Charles Town Middle School from 6 to 8 this evening and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Nominate a senior: The search is on for West Virginia’s outstanding senior volunteers. The Salute to Senior Service program, sponsored by Home Instead Inc., honors the contributions of adults 65 and older who volunteer at least 15 hours a month. Nominations will be accepted through March 31 at SalutetoSeniorService.com. Completed nomination forms also may be mailed to Salute to Senior Service, P.O. Box 285, Bellevue NE 68005.

Publishing class: Local author Bob O’Connor will teach a 10-week class, “Publishing 101” starting March 5 at Charles Town Middle School. The $70 class will cover such topics as how to find a publisher, how to decide whether to publish a printed book or just an e-book, how to market yourself and your book once it is published and more. Calling all campers: The Audubon Discovery Camp, a nature-oriented summer day camp for children in the Eastern Panhandle and Maryland, is registering campers for its 2013 summer season. Birding 101: The Potomac Valley Audubon Society is accepting applications for a multi-week course for beginning birders that starts April 4 at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s National Conservation Training Center just north of Shepherdstown.
