Bulldogs get away in second half

MARTINSBURG — Homestanding Martinsburg limited the Jefferson girls to just 12 points in the second half and romped to a comfortable 75-36 win in a game that counted toward Class AAA Sectional seeding.

The Lady Cougars (2-17 overall) remained winless against the other four Sectional teams. Martinsburg was 12-5 overall.

After leading, 34-24, at the half, the Lady Bulldogs outgunned Jefferson, 41-12, in the second half.

Marissa Jones scored 14 of Jefferson’s 36 points. Jefferson was 7-for-16 (44 percent) from the foul line.

Kiana Bullett (17 points), Essence Underwood (16 points), and Kieera Basey (10 points) paced Martinsburg’s scorers.
