After winning four consecutive WVIAC sotfball titles, West Virginia Wesleyan has attained an elite status in the conference.
In the league’s pre-season poll of the 14 coaches, the Bobcats were given the nod to repeat as the regular season champions. Ten of the 14 coaches gave the Bobcats their first-place vote.
West Virginia State received three first-place votes and had enough points to be the runner-up in the poll.
Charleston had the remaining first-place vote and finished third in the pre-season voting.
Shepherd was fourth and was followed in descending order by Fairmont, Seton Hill, Alderson-Broaddus, Ohio Valley, Concord, Glenville, West Liberty, Davis & Elkins, Wheeling Jesuit, and Bluefield.
The Bobcats also won the conference tournament a year ago when they defeated West Virginia State, 3-2, in the championship game.
