MARTINSBURG — After moving to fourth place in the latest WVMat.com ratings of Class AAA state wrestling teams, Washington High floored host Martinsburg, 64-18, last Wednesday at the Bulldogs’ Fieldhouse.
The Patriots had improved their lot with WVMat.com by finishing second to Point Pleasant in the 33-team Winner’s Choice tournament in Fairmont over the weekend of Jan. 11-12.
Fourth-ranked Washington defeated Martinsburg, 64-18, in last week’s dual match.
With Ty Reynolds, Tyler Sigler, Steve Edwards, Tyler Cross, Jared Jones, and Mark Becraft all registering pin falls, Washington had a 36-0 lead. Toss into the scoring the forfeit awarded the Patriots and the expansive lead was at 42-0.
Dylan Ceravalo, who has signed an NCAA letter-of-intent to wrestle at North Carolina State, came through with still another pin at 160 pounds. After Ceravalo’s victory, it was Washington’s Zane Bradbury getting a 12-1 decision. Keeping in tune with the other Washington winners, R.J. Wilson pinned his Martinsburg opponent, and Ashby Heath posted still another pin fall at 220 pounds.
