INWOOD — By making 12 free throws in the fourth quarter, the Musselman girls held off Jefferson’s bid for its second win of the basketball season. The Lady Applemen posted a 57-54 win last Thursday at the Charles C. Cline Court.
Musselman was 6-7 overall with the Sectional win, while Jefferson was 1-14 with the close loss.
Musselman’s nine point lead was almost gone at the end, but was revived by its made free throws.
Jefferson’s pressure defense brought it back and even helped give the Lady Cougars a short-lived lead. The defense helped cause 27 Musselman turnovers.
Brianna Caison led the list of Musselman scorers with 15 points and Logan Kerr added another 11 points. Marissa Jones had 15 points for Jefferson, and Alana Baylor totaled 10 points as the Lady Cougar double-figure scorers.
