Millers Electric CEO dies suddenly at 56

MARTINSBURG – A funeral will be held Friday for Robert W. Miller, the president and CEO of Millers Electric Co. on Tavern Road here. He died Saturday at 56 of what friends said was a heart attack.

The Martinsburg native purchased the business from his father in 1991 and in recent years saw the business expand as he operated it with his wife, Gina Bennett Miller.

Millers Electric Co. Inc. was named 2008’s Small Business of the Year by the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce and Miller won the 2006 Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation Philanthropist of the Year Award.

Miller was credited as a driving force behind statewide electrician licensing and helped to found the West Virginia Electrical Contractors’ Board, where he served as president for years.

A funeral is set for 2 p.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home’s South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood. The family will receive friends there on Thursday.
