LEWISBURG — Unbeaten and top-ranked Greenbrier East ended Washington’s seven-game girls basketball win streak when the defending state champion Spartans defeated the Patriots, 75-57, on Saturday in Greenbrier County.
Washington was 8-5 overall with the loss.
Jackie Hess scored 15 points for the Patriots while Kylie Nelson tossed in 10 points and Amber Curry added another eight points.
The Spartans of Coach Jim Justice were paced in the scoring column by Bianca Andre’ and Chaunte McDowell, who both counted 20 points.
Washington had beaten visiting St. Maria Goretti, 73-31, on Friday to extend its winning streak to seven games after opening the season with a 1-4 record.
