SHENANDOAH JUNCTION — Jefferson’s third win of the season came at the expense of Berkeley Springs when Jalen Smith, Michael King, and Kalen Nehler helped lift the Cougars to a 20-point lead by halftime en route to a comfortable, 75-46, win over the Indians last Tuesday.
Smith, King, and Nehler had all but two of the Cougars’ points by halftime when homestanding Jefferson had a 39-19 lead.
All 10 of the players Jefferson dressed were able to score against the Indians, 4-7 overall with the loss.
The teams played evenly in the third quarter before the Cougars, then 3-9 overall, outscored the visitors, 19-9, in the fourtrh stanza.
Smith totaled 20 points on all field goals. King was able to notch a season-high 17 points. Both King and Smith had a pair of three-point field goals. Nehler scored a season-high 11 points.
Geoff Walker had a season-high seven points and Casey McDonald also had a season-high seven points.
After limiting the Indians to six first-quarter points, the Cougars ran off a 24-point second quarter to take a long lead to the dressing room at halftime.
