Sports registration: Registration for spring baseball and softball season will be held at Charles Town Middle School Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Feb. 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Feb. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m.; Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Feb. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fees are $120 for the first child and $110 for each additional child. Farm nominees: Do you know someone interested in serving on a local USDA Farm Service Agency County Committee? Until Feb. 13, anyone may nominate a candidate to run for a vacant position on the local USDA Farm Service Agency County Committee. Diabetes prevention: Shenandoah Community Health Center offers the “Group Lifestyle Balance Diabetes Prevention Program” free to community members. This award-winning program teaches and supports long-lasting and manageable lifestyle changes to reduce the onset of Type 2 diabetes. Anyone 18 years or older can learn more about the program at an informational session at 6 p.m. Monday at Shenandoah Community Health Center in Martinsburg. Beekeeping: The West Virginia Eastern Panhandle Beekeepers Association is accepting registration for its 2013 beginner beekeepers course. Classes start at 7 p.m. Monday at the West Virginia Fruit Research and Education Center in Kearneysville. The fee is $70. For beekeepers who have completed the beginners course or have at least two years’ beekeeping experience, a three-week advanced class begins Saturday.
