Homestanding Washington outscored Musselman by 13 points in the second quarter and used that advantage to stop the visiting Lady Applemen, 53-40, in a girls basketball game played last Thursday.
Washington was winning for the sixth straight time and extended its overall record to 7-4. Musselman, which owned an earlier win over the Patriots this season, dipped to 5-5 overall.
The Patriots outgunned Musselman, 19-6 in the second quarter to build a 33-18 lead at the intermission. Even though outscored 22-20 in the second half, the second quarter dominance had proven to be enough to get the win.
Jackie Hess led Washington in scoring with her 18 points. Also scoring in double figures for the Patriots was Morgan Adams with her 10 points. Kylie Nelson tossed in eight points as did Kenya Dozier. Adams and Hess each made a pair of three-point field goal shots.
The Patriots were 8-for-11 from the foul line and the Lady Applemen went 6-for-10.
