Simmons, Holland lead Cougars to No. 2 finish

SHEPHERDSTOWN — Keegan Simmons and Luisa Holland had winning individual performances in their respective divisions at the Sweet Inspirations Invitational swim meet held on Saturday at the Shepherd Wellness Center.

Simmons’ wins in the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke were spliced together with his role on the winning 200 medley relay team to help Jefferson to a second-place finish in the boys division.

Millbrook had 153 points to win the boys section. Jefferson had 119 points. Washington was fourth with 62 points.

Henry deBuchananne, Devin Forman, and Bailey Pitcher joined with Simmons on the 200 medley relay team. Jefferson’s other individual win came from deBuchananne in the 100 breaststroke. He was also second in the 500 freestyle.

Washington’s Shawn Gee won the 100 butterfly and placed second in the 100 backstroke.

Sherando won the girl’s division with 192 points with Jefferson in second with 105. Washington was fifth with 35 points.

The Lady Cougars won the 200 free style relay behind a big move from Holland. Holland also won the 100 breaststroke and recorded a second individual victory in the 200 individual medley.
