STEPHENS CITY, Va. — Sherando outscored Jefferson by small margins in every quarter and completed a 63-49 win over the Cougars with a 20-point outburst in the fourth period in the game played last Thursday.
Jefferson made only 15-of-27 free throws while the Warriors converted 15 of the 22 free throws they attempted.
The Cougars had a 1-5 overall record while the Warriors moved ahead to 3-4 overall.
Sherando posted a first quarter lead of 15-11 and moved it to 29-23 at the halftime. After outpointing the visiting Cougars, 14-10, in the third period, Sherando led, 43-33, moving to the last quarter. Sherando outscored the Cougars, 20-16, in the last quarter.
Miller paced Sherando’s scorers with 20 points while Williams and Harrison both scored 11 points.
Jefferson showed Josh Dudley with 14 points, while Ryan Helm totaled 11 points and Jalen Smith added his eight points.
