BOWIE, Md. — Cold-shooting Shepherd fell to homestanding Bowie State, 70-56, in a women’s basketball game played last Thursday in Maryland.
The Lady Rams shot only 26 percent from the field and fell behind by 18 points by halftime and then made only 10-of-39 field goal attempts in the second half.
Shepherd was 2-3 overall with the non-conference loss and Bowie State improved to 3-4 overall.
The Lady Bulldogs managed to shoot 41 percent from the field in the first half in building a 42-24 lead. Bowie State was only 7-for-25 from the floor in a second half where it scored 32 points.
Shepherd committed 21 turnovers and was 3-for-14 (21 percent) on three-point attempts.
Emily Daniel had 10 rebounds and Gabby Flinchum eight rebounds while only Flinchum did much from the floor, going 5-for-12.
Other than Flinchum, the other eight Shepherd players combined to shoot 12-for-53 (22.6 percent).
