MORGANTOWN (AP) — Monongalia County officials are considering easing a restriction on where strip clubs and other exotic entertainment venues can be located.
The county’s exotic entertainment ordinance prohibits these venues from locating within 2,000 feet of schools, churches or residential areas. County Commissioner Asel Kennedy tells The Dominion Post that the 2,000-feet buffer zone is too restrictive.
Commissioners are considering reducing the buffer zone to 600 feet. That’s half the length of a football field.
A public hearing on the proposed revision will be held Wednesday morning in the commission chambers at the Monongalia County Courthouse in Morgantown.
