STEPHENS CITY, Va. — Outscoring visiting Washington High by 19 points in the middle two quarters, Sherando defeated the Patriot girls, 72-59, last Wednesday. The Lady Warriors were 2-0 with the 13-point win and Washington was 1-3.
Sherando only had a one-point lead after the first quarter but then went on a scoring tear in the second stanza to take a 40-29 lead by halftime. When the Lady Warriors outpointed Washington, 19-11, in the third quarter, they had moved in front, 59-40.
Sherando managed to net 25 field goals and went 16-for-25 from the foul line. Washington had only 18 field goals and was 19-for-26 at the charity stripe.
Jackie Hess totaled 15 points (making all six of her free throws) for the Patriots. Alycia Lambert notched 11 points, making six of her eight free throws.
Kenya Dozier added eight points and Kirsten Doleman also landed eight points. Kylie Nelson was able to chip in with six points.
