Special service: A “Messiah Sing” will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Saint James Catholic Church in Charles Town. The whole Advent/Christmas portion of “Messiah” will be presented, along with the “Hallelujah Chorus.” Audience members are invited to bring scores (or purchase them at the door for $8) and sing all the choruses accompanied by orchestra. Music service: The annual Joy Gift Christmas music service of the Charles Town Presbyterian Church will start at 7 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary located at 220 E. Washington St. Everyone is invited. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
Special Christmas program: The Fellowship Riders will present a Christmas program at the Bolivar United Methodist Church starting at 6 p.m. Sunday. The church is located at 1215 Washington St. in Harpers Ferry. Light refreshments will be served following the program. Summit Point Baptist holiday activities: A youth musical pageant will start at 7 p.m. Dec. 21. The adult choir will perform the musical cantata “Born to You This Day” starting at 11 a.m. Dec. 23. Christmas at St. Paul’s: Christian Community Church at St. Paul’s invites the public to its Christmas services at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 22, 23 and Christmas Eve. The church, located at 12623 Harpers Ferry Road is lit with oil lamps and an 1890s oil lamp chandelier to look like a 19th-century Christmas. Each service features guest musicians, favorite Christmas hymns and traditional candle lighting ceremony. Refreshments are served afterward in the church’s Mullen Hall. Christmas Eve service: St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Harpers Ferry starting at 5 p.m. There will be a special children’s reading. All are welcome to join the celebration.
