WINCHESTER, Va. — With Kenya Dozier providing Washington’s girls basketball team with a double-double, the Patriots were able to defeat homestanding Handley, 58-37, last Thursday night at the Hunter Maddex/Jimmy Omps gymnasium.
Dozier scored 13 points and claimed 10 rebounds. Washington’s Jackie Hess added 10 points as did the Patriots’ Morgan Adams.
The Patriots improved their overall record to 3-4.
Washington evened its overall record at 4-4 when it defeated Sherando, 51-41, on Friday in a home game. Sherando left town with a 3-5 record.
The Patriots led by 13 points after the third quarter ended. After Sherando sliced five points off that lead.
It was the second quarter that buoyed Washington. There were leads of 22-8 and then 31-16 at the half.
Kylie Nelson led the Patriots in scoring with 17 points. She also collected nine rebounds. Adams added 13 points in the win.
