Funeral home offering 2013 calendars
HARPERS FERRY – Officials at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home are working to get out word that their free 2013 desk calendars are available.
The calendars are a long-standing tradition for the business. Normally, the funeral home mails out calendars to clients but officials there have created a Plan B after the entire Eackles-Spencer & Norton address book was deleted in a computer glitch.
Anyone interested may stop by the funeral home just off U.S. 340 at 256 Halltown Road in Harpers Ferry to pick a calendar. Another option is to call the funeral home at 304-724-6500 and leave the mailing address where you’d like the calendar shipped.
Restaurant partnering with animal group
CHARLES TOWN – Dine out at Ruby Tuesday next week and you’ll be helping out the Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County.
Through the eatery’s Community Giveback program, diners at both the Charles Town and Martinsburg locations on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday will see 20 percent of their purchases earmarked for the AWS’s Renovation Fund.
The society plans to use the money for maintenance and upgrades to its no-kill shelter on 23 Poor House Road next to the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.
Participants must present a copy of the flier when they order. Fliers may be printed from the AWS website at awsjc.org or picked up at the shelter or the Petco in Ranson. For additional information, call AWS at 304-725-0589.
