Solemn ceremony

BRYAN CLARK – Speakers at the Veterans Day commemoration at Harpers Ferry Middle School Monday highlighted the words of U.S. Army Major Richard Winters, commanding officer of Company E of the 101st Airborne Division whose acts of courage were included in the HBO series, “Band of Brothers.” When Winters’ grandson asked if he was a hero, Winters is said to have replied, “No … but I served in a company of heroes.”
