Special church service: Grace Baptist Church in Shenandoah Junction will host a special Thanksgiving Eve service starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Date changed for meeting: The American Legion Auxiliary, Jackson Perks Unit 71, Charles Town will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Post home in Charles Town.
Book presentation: Researcher and historian Donald E. Watts will discuss his latest book, “Fourth Census of the United States of America, 1820: Occupations and Manufactures in Jefferson County, Virginia,” at the Charles Town Library starting at 7 p.m. Nov. 29. The book will be available for purchase and $5 will be donated to the library for each book sold.
Blood drive: The American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Mountain View Community Center, 58 Mission Road, Harpers Ferry. Sign up online at redcrossblood.org.
Pets need for parade: The Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County will be participating in the 2 p.m. Dec. 1 Charles Town Christmas Parade. The walking unit will be made up of dogs that have been adopted from shelters, rescue groups, AWS dogs that are in need of homes or your own canine companions. EPCD meeting: The monthly meeting of the Eastern Panhandle Conservation District will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 5 in the conference room of the USDA Service Center, 151 Aikens Center, Martinsburg.
Fundraiser: Shepherdstown’s War Memorial Building will host a fundraiser event sponsored by the Shepherdstown Public Library and the Jefferson County Development Authority from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 5. All proceeds will go toward support of the library.
Chili cook-off: Washington High School starting at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 8. Admission is $5 at the door. Jazz band will perform at 8. Winners announced at 8:30. A silent auction and vendor fair will also be held. All proceeds to benefit WHS Band Boosters.
Benefit fundraiser: Friends of Leeds Corbin will host a fundraiser from 7 to 10 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Ranson Civic Center. Admission is $10 per person. All proceeds will go to the Leeds Corbin Benefit Fund. Corbin was injured in an accident and is currently in rehabilitation.
