An overturned cement truck that crashed on W.Va. 9 has been cleared from the road, according to Captain Daniel Fritsch of Citizens fire company.
Personnel from Blue Ridge, Citizens and Independent Fire Companies responded to the accident, and Fritsch took over as incident commander. Personnel from the Jefferson County Emergency Services Agency, Berkeley County and Hazmat specialists from Mount Weather also responded.
“Upon arrival, units determined that a bulk cargo carrier had overturned,” Fritsch wrote in a news release. “The truck was hauling powdered cement. There were no injuries. However the truck was leaking diesel fuel for a short period of time. Crews were successful in efforts to stop the leak and prevent run off to a near by stream.”
Route 9 was closed for several hours because of the accident.
