Using much of the momentum it had achieved in winning the Fort Hill Invitational volleyball tournament on Sept. 22, Washington continued its mid-season surge with a 3-0 win over visiting Martinsburg last Tuesday, The Patriots won the three games in the match by scores of 25-15, 25-22, and 25-20.
In the first game, Washington’s Michelle Sieminski scored on six straight serves to help the Patriots get off on a winning note. Beata Lienhard contributed crucial kills in that initial game. In the second game, Sieminski had four service points and Alexus Bonner had five service points for the Patriots. Washington broke away from a 22-22 tie to win the game.
Lea Cook had important points in the third game with her serving. Alycia Lambert’s serves helped the Patriots extend a slender lead near the middle of the game.
