Hurricane Sandy update from Jefferson County Homeland Security

As of Monday at 6:30 p.m., there were 1020 people without power in Jefferson County.

There is a flood warning for the Potomac River from Tuesday afternoon until further notice. Major flooding will occur on Opequon Creek from late Monday evening until Thursday morning. Minor flooding is in the forecast for the Shenandoah River at Millville from later Tuesday morning until Thursday morning.

A shelter has been opened at the Senior Center at 103 West 5th Ave., Ranson.

Road closures:
Mountain Top Trail; Westridge Hills; High water at Marlow at Tractor Supply; standing water at Jefferson County High School

Jefferson County Schools — closed Tuesday.
Parks and Recreations — all activities cancelled Tuesday
The Dialysis Center — closed Tuesday

Harpers Ferry National Park closed Tuesday.
Apple Valley closed through Wednesday.
WVDHHR Office closed on Tuesday.
