Cougars leave PVC runners in their wake

Andrew Milliron has given Jefferson consistently
high finishes this season.

MARTINSBURG — With senior Ryan Graf and junior Andrew Milliron again leading the charge, Jefferson’s boys cross country team placed four of its runners in the top five finishers to run away from the other four teams entered in last week’s Potomac Valley Conference meet that was held at the Poor House Farm Park course.

Graf posted a meet-winning time of 16:51, a time that was 10 seconds faster than meet runner-up Milliron, who was timed in 17:01. Jefferson’s Jackson Jacobs was fourth overall in 18:08. And Zach Wiberg was fifth overall in 18:12. The last Jefferson runner to count toward the five-runner team total was Rhett Zillinger, seventh overall in 18:23.

Washington’s best finish came from Joe McCormick, who was 14th overall in 19:27.

The team scoring totals found Jefferson with 19, Musselman second with 65, Hedgesville third with 81, Martinsburg fourth with 92, and Washington fifth with 103.

The Cougars travel to Elkins for this week’s Class AAA Region II Meet. Jefferson is the defending Region II champion as well as the defending Class AAA state champion.
