With Daniel Bouchoc scoring three goals and the Washington defense erasing most of Hedgesville’s offensive efforts, the Patriots blanked the Eagles, 4-0, in a boys soccer match played last Thursday.
With the win over its Sectional rival, the Patriots shoved their overall record to 8-5-1 while the Eagles were left at 9-5-1.
Bouchoc’s first goal came with about 28 minutes left in the first half. Ben Capriolo had an assist on that goal. About 10 minutes into the second half, Bouchoc scored again for a 2-0 Washington lead. The last two Patriot goals came in the final 10 minutes when both Bouchoc and Tim Goben placed shots past Ethan Waters. Tim Kowalski was the Patriot goalkeeper in the shutout.
Unbeaten Martinsburg (9-0-4) refused to allow Washington to do much against its leather-tough defense when the two teams faced off in a boys soccer match last Tuesday.
The outcome of the defensive struggle found the Bulldogs remaining undefeated in 13 matches as they had a 1-0 win over the visiting Patriots.
Tristan Reid had the match’s only goal about 15 minutes along in the first half.
Both teams fed off their respective defenses throughout with neither side finding many scoring opportunities.
Washington found only one shot in the second half.
