Led by low medalist Robert Fleming, Washington High swept to a team win at the annual Marshall “Sleepy” Glenn Invitational golf tournament held at the Sleepy Hollow Golf Course near Charles Town.
Fleming carded an 18-hole round of 76 to pace the field that included golfers from Hedgesville, St. James, Mercersburg (Pa.) Academy, James Wood, Sherando, Berkeley Springs, Musselman, Jefferson, and Martinsburg.
Washington’s four-player team score was 319 and that was seven shots better than runner-up Hedgesville (326). St. James was third with a team score of 329. Jefferson High finished ninth with a score of 383.
Robert Fleming’s 76 was followed by teammates Ryan Mumaw (79), with Patrick Burgess (82), Seth Campbell (82) , and Jacob Shuff (82) all three carding the same score. Dylan Mumaw finished with an 83.
Jefferson’s scores showed Patrick Glenn (86), Quentin Foust (96), Vincent Chicchirichi (100), Cody Lengyel (101), and Jared Foust (116).
Following Robert Fleming in the medalist standings were Otto Bunjapemei (Mercersburg Academy) with a 78, Chris Slater (Sherando) with a 78, and Owen Elliott (Hedgesville) with a 78.
