The Jefferson County Historic Landmarks Commission will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Shepherdstown on Wednesday. The gathering is free to the public and will be held at the Landmarks Commission’s Cement Mill property at the intersection of River Road and Trough Road. Tours will be given to interested visitors. The site will be open to the public from 5 to 7 p.m. Left, interpretive markers installed at the site note the location where Union and Confederate soldiers forded the river.
