MARTINSBURG — With all six of its players carding rounds from 76 to 83, Washington’s overall consistency helped it to a third straight team victory when the Patriots coasted home in winning the Martinsburg Invitational by 26 strokes over runner-up Hedgesville.
Finishing in order behind the Patriots and Eagles were Berkeley Springs, Jefferson, Musselman, and an incomplete Martinsburg team.
Washington had already won the Tri-County and Berkeley Springs Invitational at The Woods and Cacapon State Park courses when it posted this victory at the Stonebridge course just outside Martinsburg.
While Hedgesville’s Owen Elliott was the low medalist with a round of 73, Washington had Ryan Mumaw (76), Patrick Burgess (79), Robert Fleming (80), Dylan Mumaw (82), Tyler Sigler (82), and Jacob Shuff (83) finish in close proximity.
Jefferson, which had a team total of 378 as compared with Washington’s 317, had scores of 85 (Patrick Glenn), 89 (Bryce Lushbaugh), 98 (J. D. Wright), 99 (Quentin Foust), 105 (Zach Johnston), and 109 (Cody Lengyel).
