PRINCETON (AP) — Two suspects in the fatal shooting of a southern West Virginia teenager have reached plea deals with prosecutors.
Forty-four-year-old Joseph Flack Jr. of Bluefield, W.Va., is scheduled to appear Thursday in Mercer County Circuit Court. Prosecutor Scott Ash tells the Bluefield Daily Telegraph that Flack will plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter, burglary and conspiracy.
Ash says 19-year-old Jacob Thomas of Pulaski, Va., has agreed to plead guilty to the same charges.
Thomas was a juvenile at the time of 17-year-old Matthew Flack’s death in 2011. Ash says Thomas agreed to waive his status from juvenile to adult.
Matthew Flack was killed during an attempted robbery at his home.
The victim’s cousin, 21-year-old Brandon Flack, and 27-year-old Jasmen Montgomery, both of Pulaski, were convicted of first-degree murder earlier this year.
