CHARLES TOWN – A new thrift shop will open in Charles Town this weekend and purchases will benefit an animal adoption agency and its birth control program.
The Buried Treasures Thrift Shop, located in the Hill Dale Shopping Center on Augustine Avenue, will open at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
The proceeds from the sale of all items – which include antiques, jewelry, new and gently used clothing, linens, artwork, china, books, DVDs, CDs and furniture – will go to benefit the Briggs Animal Adoption Center and Spay Today.
Buried Treasures also will be accepting donations of such items, which will be tax deductible.
Briggs, located at 3731 Berryville Pike, is a no-kill shelter capable of accepting 80 dogs and 125 cats at a time.
It provides comprehensive adoption services, including rescue, veterinary care, spaying and neutering, socialization and rehabilitation and obedience training.
Spay Today has provided more than 5,000 low-cost spaying and neutering procedures in the tri-state area over the last year.
