Changing high school populations in West Virginia have caused some of the state’s better athletic programs to be moved to another classification beginning this fall.
Former Class AA schools Point Pleasant, Shady Spring, and Oak Hill will all be placed in the Class AAA ranks.
Three other schools — Fairmont Senior, Bridgeport, and North Marion — will be leaving the big-school ranks and dropping down to Class AA.
Three of the mid-sized schools — Magnolia of New Martinsville, Tug Valley, and Greenbrier West — will all be joing the Class A ranks this fall.
