CIRCLEVILLE (AP) — Three people are recovering from injuries after storms struck during fairs in Pendleton and Wood counties.
A storm blew the roof off a carnival game and injured a carnival worker at the Pendleton County Fair in Circleville. Lightning hit two brothers at the West Virginia Interstate Fair and Exposition in Mineral Wells.
Both incidents occurred Wednesday.
Pendleton County Fair Association President Deborah Lantz tells WHSV-TV that none of carnival rides were damaged.
At the Mineral Wells event, lightning hit 19-year-old Kyle Townsend and 17-year-old Keith Townsend of Belleville as they were putting up an awning on their family’s camper.
The brothers tell the Parkersburg News and Sentinel that their feet were burned. But the injuries wouldn’t stop them from competing in a hog show Wednesday night.
