CHARLES TOWN — There is no evidence of foul play in the death of a 66-year-old Jefferson County man, whose body was discovered in his home Saturday after a neighbor checked on him following last week’s storms, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
James Daniel Arbuthnot Jr., who was confined to a wheelchair, was discovered by Sgt. Ronald Fletcher in his home in the the 300 block of Blue Ridge Loop in the Blue Acres subdivision at about 1:40 p.m., July 1, according to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office chief of staff Jesse Jones.
“The temperature inside the residence was very hot. There was no power in the residence due to the storm,” Jones said. “Mr. Arbuthnot had medical conditions, was a paraplegic and was on permanent oxygen.”
Jones said a neighbor who was checking on him following the storm discovered Arbuthnot.
The case remains under investigation.
