The Jefferson County Little League baseball 10-11 year-old team was eliminated from further tournament play when it fell, 13-8, to Hedgesville’s in a District 6, Area 1 loser’s bracket game. The team had 1-2 record in its first tournament.
In a first-round game in the District 6, Area 1 Junior League tournament, Charles Town-Ranson defeated Jefferson County, 14-3.
Playing in the winner’s bracket, Charles Town-Ranson defeated Morgan County, 10-3, to remain unbeaten in the tournament. With a 2-0 record in the tournament, Charles Town-Ranson meet equally unbeaten South Berkeley in the next round.
Playing in the loser’s bracket, Jefferson County stayed alive when it defeated Martinsburg, 23-12; with the win, Jefferson County was paired against Morgan County in its next loser’s bracket game.
The District 6, Area 1 11-12 year-old baseball tournament got underway last Thursday with games at Sam Michaels Park in Zoar.
Jefferson County defeated host Charles Town-Ranson, 13-0, in a game abbreviated to just four innings by the mercy rule. In the winner’s bracket, Jefferson County faced Morgan County, a team playing its first game of the tournament.
Charles Town-Ranson moved to the loser’s bracket.
The District 6, Area 1 10-11 year-old softball tournament opened with only three teams entered. Morgan County dropped Charles Town-Ranson, 13-3, in the first game. Charles Town-Ranson went to the loser’s bracket where it faced East Hardy.
