West Virginia University Hospitals-East’s Jefferson Memorial Hospital last month named two employees as June Jewel Award winners. The Ruby award was presented to Kristy Brown, left, a registered nurse in the Special Care Unit. Brown was presented with her award by Val Penick, RN, education manager. The Ruby award represents richness and warmth in the delivery of care and this individual demonstrates a willingness to assist patients, staff and others with knowledge and experience. The award recognizes a person who is open to new ideas and ways of providing exceptional service. The Diamond award was presented to Jessica Condon, performance improvement coordinator, right. Condon was presented with her award by Dr. Christina Coad, chief administrative officer at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. The Diamond award recognizes an employee who displays many brilliant qualities and is able to withstand great pressure and temperature. Brown and Condon received their awards during a ceremony at the hospital.
