Jefferson County residents with damage to their houses and property as a result of the June 29 storm should report damages to Jefferson County Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Damages are being reported to state and federal officials in support of a possible major disaster declaration for individual assistance from the president. Residents are also encouraged to report damage and losses to their insurance agent for possible reimbursement. Food loss and costs of private generators, including fuel, do not need to be reported since these costs are not reimbursable under any Federal Emergency Management Agency declaration. This is a fact finding endeavor at this time and no funds are currently available for individual assistance.
