Crawford has been lead pastor for six years. He has been on staff for 19 years, 14 of those years as youth pastor, leading youth missions. “We went to Mexico several times and Canada. We’ve been to inner cities and Appalachia. The youth mission has been to Guatemala and Haiti recently,” Crawford said.

Covenant Baptist Church is a God-centered church, purposefully building bridges that connect Christ to the community, region and world.

The church is very pro active in the community and internationally.

“We support Jefferson County Community Ministries, Care Pregnancy Center in Martinsburg, Martinsburg Rescue Mission,” Crawford said. “We have tons of stuff that we do on a regular basis. We have a car care ministry for single moms that are not mechanically inclined. We are the regional hub of ‘Operation Christmas Child,’ a program that tries to give presents to children who might not receive one. The program is through Franklin Graham’s ministry ‘Samaritan’s Purse.’

“The regular international missions that we do right now are Kenya and Haiti. They are the two primary ones we are hitting. We want to do something in Israel as well. We have a connection in Kenya where a lot of our ladies go because they do a woman’s ministry at a church there that we are connected to and we also support an orphanage in Kenya. The orphanage in Haiti is called ‘Life is hope.’ They recently were able to buy property to establish their own orphanage. Right now, they lease the land. We are going down to start putting the walls up.”

The goal of the church is to lead people into an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.

“Our desire is to build bridges to the community and let them know the love of Christ. We want people to know the love of Jesus and we try to stay in the lives of the community to share that love,” Crawford said. “We love you and if you are in need let us know. We are alive and well and ready to serve.”

Sunday services are held at 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday morning classes for children are held during each service.
