Chief Yeoman Brian Kerns, a native of Charles Town and a 1992 graduate of Jefferson High School, retired from the United States Navy on June 8 in a ceremony at Naval Submarine Base, New London, Conn.
Among the awards Kerns received during his military career include the Joint Service Commendation, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (eight awards).
Kerns is married to Susan (Lehman) Kerns and they have three children: Tyler, 14, Joshua, 12 and Ciara, 10.
