Jefferson High swimmer Kyle Polczynski has signed a letter-of-intent to join the swim team at West Virginia University-Tech in Montgomery.
At Jefferson, Polczynski swam the 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter freestyle, and on several Cougar relays. He qualified for the 2012 state swim meet in Morgantown where he finished 10th in the 50-meter freestyle and was also 12th in the 100-meter freestyle.
WVU-Tech will be joining the Appalachian Swimming Conference for the 2012-13 school year. The first-year program will be the second school from West Virginia in that league as Wheeling Jesuit is also becoming a member.
The league will send its athletes to the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) national meet in Oklahoma City.
The other schools in the far-flung league are Asbury University, Warren Wilson College, Ursuline College (women only), Urbana University, Union College, Olivet Nazarene University, Notre Dame College, Milligan College, Mars Hill College, King College, Brenau University (women only), and Berea College.
