Ranson Festival and Car Show: The Ranson Convention and Visitor Bureau will be having the Ranson Festival and Car Show on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Vendors will be able to setup at 8 a.m. Tables will be provided. Site with electricity will be $50 and without will be $35. The Ranson Car Show registration will begin at 8 a.m. and cars will be parked on Fairfax Blvd. For details, contact the Ranson Visitor Center at 304-724-3862.

Library announces summer hours: The Shepherdstown Library is pleased to announce that throughout the summer it will be open on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., beginning on June 15. Every Friday will still be a fine-free day. Jefferson Memorial Park offerings: The park swimming pool is open for the season. For questions about hours and rates, season passes, private pool parties and private swim lessons, contact MaryBeth Anderson at 304-725-8313. Free swimming lessons sponsored by the red Cross will be held June 25 through July 6. Registration will be in the morning on July 21 at the pool house. Registration forms are available at the pool house, Charles Town City Hall and the Red Cross office and must be signed by a doctor. Picnic pavilion rentals are available by contacting Marybeth Anderson at 304-820-2735.

Jefferson County Council on Aging bus trips: The Jefferson County Council on Aging and Jefferson Capital Tours will be offering bus trips throughout the year. Trips offered include: WV Mining Tour — June 26-27; Philadelphia City Tour — July 12; Pennsylvania Opry: Remembering Elvis — August 15; Cape May, N.J. — Sept. 4 and 5; Inner Harbor Gospel Cruise — Oct. 13; Antietam Cowboy Christmas Show — Nov. 14; Christmas in Williamsburg, Va. — Dec. 5 and 6. Low cost veterinarian service offered: Do you have a dog or cat that needs to be spayed or neutered? Spay Today is the area’s reduced-cost spay and neuter program. Ranson Summer Sports Camps: The Ranson Civic Center will be hosting summer sports camps in June for all 2nd — 9th grade students. A girls softball camp will be held Monday through Thursday, and co-ed basketball June 25 to 28. Shepherd to host senior racquetball tournament: Shepherd University will host the West Virginia Senior Sports Classic racquetball tournament on June 23 at the Wellness Center. The event is open to anyone 50 or older. The first four finishers qualify to participate in the 2013 National Senior games to be held in Cleveland. The state qualifying event is the only way to qualify for the national games. Participation is by age group in five year increments. Other events will be held in Charleston June 21 through 23 including golf, tennis, bowling, bike races, track and field, and swimming. Volunteers sought: YoungLives, which provides resources and support for young mothers, is looking for volunteers to provide childcare from 6 to 9 p.m. on the first, third and fourth Thursday of each month. Volunteers can help on just one Thursday a month or all three. Volunteers must be 18 or older and pass a background check paid for and completed by YoungLives. Leetown School holds reunion: The alumni, faculty and friends of the former Leetown Graded/High School held an inaugural reunion on June 2. About 140 people attended from as far away as Florida and Montana. The eldest person in attendance was Mrs. Mary Price Edwards Hill, age 99.
