Tractor Supply hosts grand opening

CHARLES TOWN – The new 19,000 square foot Tractor Supply outlet off of U.S. 340 in Charles Town held it’s grand opening ceremony on Saturday, attended by local and state politicians along with officials from the Chamber of Commerce.

Store Manager Gerald Michaels said the new location is already seeing great business prospects in the county.

Tractor Supply store in Charles Town celebrated its grand opening last weekend.

“We opened up on Friday the 13th, actually. It’s been wonderful. We’ve had a great reception from the Chamber of Commerce to help us get the store rolling,” said Michaels. “Business has been great. The people have been coming in left and right. The response from the public has been fantastic. I couldn’t have been pleased more.”

Michaels said that Tractor Supply plans to hold regular educational events on Saturdays aimed at demonstrating the secrets of rural living.

“Saturdays we try to bring in some animals once in a while to educate the public about our rural lifestyle. We’ll usually have baby goats or chickens, depending on what our customers want,” Michaels said.

“We have equine experts on staff, sheep and goat experts, welders, electricians. Even if you are not a farmer, we have an excellent outdoor lifestyle, and we can help you with clothing and things for your home.”

“Each store, including the one in Charles Town, offers a comprehensive selection of merchandise for the health, care, growth and containment of horses, livestock and pets … a broad selection of agricultural products, and tools and hardware selected for our customers’ needs,” Michaels said. “In addition, the company sells light truck equipment, work clothing for the entire family, and an extensive line of seasonal products including lawn and garden power equipment products.”

The construction of Tractor Supply has been a long process, but it won final approval from the Charles Town City Council last March. Construction of the building began in November.

Michaels said he is grateful for the community’s support.

“Thank you for letting us come into your community. We really appreciate it,” he said.
