Patriots beat Cougar tennis

SHENANDOAH JUNCTION— The Washington boys tennis team rolled to its 19th straight win with a 7-0 blanking of Jefferson on the Cougars’ home courts.

The four Washington singles wins came from Will Wheatley (No. 1), Patrik Haglund (No. 2), Austin Thomas (No. 3), and Alden Roth (No. 4).

In the three doubles matches, all won by the Patriots, Wheatley/Haglund prevailed at No. 1, Thomas/Roth won at No. 2, and Cullen Irving/Cory Coomler won for the Patriots at No. 3.

Washington was 19-1 overall.

The Washington girls tripped their Jefferson counterparts by the same 7-0 score.

Patriot singles players Angela Pittinger (No. 1), Jill Spuria (No. 2), Melissa Sirbaugh (No. 3), and McKenzie Littleton (No. 4) as Washington was able to sweep the four matches with its individual players.

All three doubles matches had similar outcomes with the Washington combinations winning at every turn.
