ST. AUGUSTINE, (FL)— Flager College junior outfielder Brett Moreland just completed his first season in the NCAA Division II ranks with a .387 batting average in his 46 games.
Flagler had a fast beginning in its Peach Belt Conference, but then had several short losing streaks and completed league play with a 13-17 record.
Flagler had a 27-22 overall record and did not qualify for any postseason play.
Moreland came to Flagler from Frederick Community College, a NJCAA Division II school.
In his first season with the St. Augustine-based college, he went 75-for-194 with 13 doubles, four triples, and three homers. He had 25 RBIs and usually hit third in the Flagler batting order.
Moreland had 105 total bases and a .541 slugging percentage. He finished with a .418 on-base percentage. His batting average was the highest on the team.
Moreland is a 2009 graduate of Jefferson High.
